Turtle Feels Sad

Turtle feels sad today.

He doesn’t know why, but he knows he feels blue.

Turtle is like me and you,

Sometimes we are up and full of glee.

Other times we are down and blue, you see.

Turtle is sad today.

Goat comes to visit and he is full of joy.

He twirls and jumps and leaps in the air.

Goat is like me and you.

Sometimes we are so happy we haven’t a care.

Other times we are blue and feel as if nobody is there.

Goat is full of joy today.

Alpaca comes to visit but she is frightened and nervous too.

She is worried about monsters and things that just are not true.

Alpaca is like you and me.

Sometimes we are scared and see monsters in our heads.

Other times we are secure and safe, tucked into our bed.

Alpaca is frightened today.

Turtle’s friends all shared how they feel.

We don’t have to see feelings to know they’re real.

You may be happy one day and sad the next.

Talking about our feelings is always best.

Turtle, Goat, and Alpaca are the very best of friends.

And they know that if one has a bad day,

their friendship will not end.

A good friend will be there in the good and bad,

Whether you are happy, sad, mad, or glad.

Hearing how his friends felt made Turtle feel much better.

Especially once they all were together.

They talked and heard what each had to say.

After-all, we all have our good and bad days.

Our feelings make us all who we are meant to be.

We are more alike than different,

as you can see.

So share your feelings and speak your mind.

And when others share theirs,

remember to first be kind.

If An Alpaca Came to Dinner

If an alpaca came for dinner, I think it would be great fun!

Whether we eat potatoes or fish, or even turnips that I simmer.

A dinner with an alpaca would be second to none.

As far as guests go, this much I do know:

a dinner with an alpaca would truly be a winner.

If an alpaca came to see me, oh what fun it would be!

After we eat dinner, we would play a game or three.

I could teach her backgammon, Parchesi and more.

Games with an alpaca would never be a bore,

I bet she would have the winning score.

If an alpaca came to visit, we would become the best of friends!

Together, we would have so much fun,

we could even play tag, leap frog, and racing runs.

Because an alpaca is always nice and kind,

a friendship like ours is truly a rare find.

Dogs and Cats or Cats and Dogs?

I love dogs, but cats sometimes more.

But I wouldn’t turn a dog away,

if he came knocking on my door.

I love cats, but dogs sometimes more.

But I couldn’t say “no” if a cat came to stay,

I would welcome her in and shake her paw.

I love dogs and cats and cats and dogs,

one not more than the other.

They could all come to my home,

and I would gladly be their mother.

A Cardinal in Winter

A beautiful cardinal sits, so red and bright. On a tree branch in the winter sunlight. He chirps and preens, waiting to he be ...
