A winter tree stands tall and proud.
Stretching to the sky, nary a leaf nearby.
Sunlight dances on every branch,
every knot.
Trees remember what we forgot.
There’s beauty in the starkness of winter.
Lessons learned by remaining silent and still,
standing back, until
The wind changes and spring ushers herself in.
A winter tree standing so noble and tall.
is a life lesson in grace and dignity
for each one of us all.
In a world that’s frightfully loud, even shrill,
we would do well by simply
standing still.
Today I suggest we quietly pause,
allowing ourselves to stop and just be.
Quiet, noble, proud, and silent,
just like a stately winter tree.
